Unbroken
EVEWRIGHT
Join us for the opening launch of Unbroken, a banner art installation in the Ocean Court space at the National Maritime Museum, which responds to the Zong massacre.
In 1781, the crew of the British slave ship Zong threw 132 enslaved African people overboard, allegedly because there was not enough drinking water on the vessel, in order to claim compensation under their insurance.

Hawaiʻi
Kingdom Crossing Ocean
Hawaiʻi: a kingdom crossing oceans is a dazzling celebration of the artistry and history of the Hawaiian people.
The exhibition brings together remarkable objects – from feathered cloaks worn by chiefs and finely carved deities, to powerful shark-toothed weapons and bold contemporary works by Kānaka ʻŌiwi (Native Hawaiian) artists.

Canvas & Print
Over the last twenty years or so I have come back again and again to the canvas, slowly finding my pace with pigments and textures. I mainly paint abstracts in mixed media including acrylic, plant powders, and oils. My work is full of energy and movement with my inspiration coming from natural landscapes, ‘colourscapes’ and the amazing worlds you can see if you look closely at things.

Kerry James Marshall
The Histories
This autumn, experience the epic style of America's most important artist, Kerry James Marshall, whose powerful paintings place the lives of Black Americans front and centre. Internationally acclaimed artist Kerry James Marshall is one of the most important painters working right now.
His vivid and mostly large-scale paintings place the Black figure front and centre. Marshall builds upon the Western tradition of history painting and makes visible those people who were so noticeably absent in the works that came before him.
